Civil engineering plays a significant role in the development of our society via structural design, construction, and maintenance of buildings, roads, railways, airports, bridges, dams, canals, houses, etc. The graduates in civil engineering help design, construct and maintain these structures with their analytical abilities acquired after completing the B.Tech at Best Civil Engineering College in Punjab, India.
The Department of Civil Engineering at GGI was started in the academic year 2009-2010. It offers the 4 years B. Tech program in top civil engineering college in Punjab through an internationally recognized curriculum prescribed by the affiliating university IKG Punjab Technical University. This program was initially started with an intake of 60 students, which was later increased to 120 from the academic year 2011-2012 onwards. The Department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, enabling students to maintain coherency between theoretical and practical knowledge. The department conducts regular academic activities under the Institute-Industrial Interaction Cell (IIIC) of the institute, such as,
In addition to the above, the department always strives to deliver quality education and content beyond syllabus via its good experiences and dynamic faculty members for the attainment of courses (COs) and program outcomes (POs). Thus, all the faculty members continuously update their knowledge by attending FDPs, training sessions, conferences, seminars, and STTPs, etc. conducted by reputed organizations. The active participation of faculty members in the research activities enables them to maintain regular interaction with experts from the industries as well as the academicians. The knowledge acquired by teachers is transferred to students by conducting regular co-curricular activities, wherein students are encouraged to present their research work and projects completed under the mentorship of their teachers. This enables our students to grab a good placement opportunity or to continue their higher education in their selected area of research. Our alumni are occupying good positions in Education, Research, Design, and Construction in various private and government organizations and many are working as successful entrepreneurs.
